Calling all Miami musicians! Rock the Beach: Battle of the Bands is back for year two and set for Saturday, March 30th and we’re looking for bands to perform. Please read the full rules and guidelines at the bottom of this page before submitting this form!

Official Rules for Rock the Beach: Battle of the Bands, Presented by Concrete Beach Brewery
No Purchase Necessary to Enter or Win. Limit one entry per band. Any subsequent Entries from a single band will be void.
Eligibility: This contest is being offered only in the metropolitan area of Miami, Florida. Contest is open only to amateur musical groups and bands with minimum of three (3) members per band. All of the band members must be legal residents of the 50 United States including the District of Columbia. All band members must be at least 21 years of age and if selected to compete in the contest must be willing to perform, without compensation, on a specific date(s) and time(s) in the competition at the Concrete Beach Brewery Social Hall (“Social Hall”) and, if selected as the grand prize winner, must be available to perform at a future signature event at The Fillmore Miami Beach. Transportation for band members, their sound equipment and instruments to/from the Social Hall will be at the expense of the band members. Employees of Concrete Beach Brewery and its parent companies, affiliates, and subsidiaries (hereinafter the “Sponsor”), distributors, suppliers, advertising and promotion agencies and each of their respective parent companies, affiliates, and subsidiaries and their immediate family members are not eligible. Contest is subject to all federal, state and local laws and is void where prohibited or restricted by law.
To Enter: Bands can enter by submitting the necessary entry materials on the Concrete Beach Brewery – Rock the Beach: Battle of the Bands submission website at http://concretebeachbrewery.com/rock-beach-band-submissions/. To enter, you must submit recording made by your band, on which the band plays a complete original musical composition and lyrics (music and lyrics must be written and owned by a member or members of the band and recording must be owned by a member or members of the band) and for which the band or at least one member has the right to license for commercial use. Submissions may be formatted in audio/visual, audio only, or other format as long as the original musical composition is clearly audible in its entirety. Submissions must be made from February 1, 2019 until February 22, 2019, 11:59pm Eastern Standard Time. The music submitted cannot have been previously published or licensed, and each entrant shall indemnify Sponsor from any claims related to or arising out of the ownership, publication, or use of entrant’s composition. Modification of an existing work does not qualify as original. Sponsor and its affiliates are not responsible for lost, late, damaged, illegible, or incomplete entries. All entries shall become the property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. By submitting an entry, the writer and owner of the composition, as well as the creator of the audio, video, or other formatted submission, grant the Sponsor a non-exclusive, global, and perpetual license to use the composition, submission and any other materials provided in connection with the contest entry in promotional or media associated with the contest, including the ability to edit, amend, or alter any portion of any submission. Sponsor reserves the sole right to disqualify any entrant for non-compliance with any section of these rules.
Semi-Finalists – Selection Process: On or around February 22, 2019, a maximum of six (6) bands will be selected by authorized representatives of Concrete Beach Brewery as Semi-Finalist Winners. Bands will be selected on the basis of the following criteria: originality of music and lyrics (0-25 points); appeal of style (0-25 points); and quality of musicianship (0-50 points). The selection process and application of the above criteria will be at Sponsor’s sole discretion.
Semi-Finalists Round – Judging Process: Each band chosen as a Semi-Finalist Winner will have their entry submission posted to the Concrete Beach Brewery – Rock the Beach: Battle of the Bands website for public viewing and voting on or around March 1, 2019. The website will be open for public voting on or about March 1, 2019 through March 22, 2019 at 11:59pm. Each website visitor to the website will be allowed to submit one (1) vote per day during the semi-final round. At the close of the semi-final round, on or about March 22, 2019, the three (3) bands receiving the most votes from site visitors during the voting period will be offered an opportunity to participate in the final round as a Finalist as described below. In the event of a tie, an authorized representative of Concrete Beach Brewery will choose from amongst the bands receiving the most votes to determine the three (3) Finalists.
Finalists – Eligibility: The three (3) bands chosen as Finalists will be offered the opportunity to perform in Concrete Beach Brewery Rock the Beach: Battle of the Bands (“Battle of the Bands”) event to be held on or about March 30, 2019. Each member of each band selected to perform will be required to execute an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability and Publicity Release which must be returned before the band will be permitted to perform in the Battle of the Bands. Sponsor reserves the right to verify any entrant’s eligibility. Non-compliance with any of the foregoing, or of any other section of these rules, may result in disqualification of the entire band. Should one or more Finalists be disqualified prior to the Battle of the Bands, Concrete Beach Brewery may, within its sole discretion choose one or more replacements from amongst the Semi-Finalists to participate in the Battle of the Bands.
Finalists – Battle of the Bands Performance and Judging: At the Battle of the Bands, each band will have a total of 15 minutes to set up their equipment and 30 minutes to play their original compositions. Performance lineup will be chosen at random by Sponsor with the participation of each band or a representative of each band.
The winner of the Battle of the Bands will be chosen through a points system determined by the combination of audience member votes and a judges’ panel, as described below, after the conclusion of the final band’s performance. Both the audience and the judges’ panel will be asked to vote based on a combination of each bands performance, musical ability, crowd engagement, and originality. Final points will be awarded as follows:
- Audience member voting (1/3 of final points) – Members of the audience will vote (limit 1 vote per individual) via online mobile voting application. The band receiving the most audience votes will receive 1 point in the final tally.
- A judge’s panel (2/3 of final points) – A panel of two (2) judges will be selected by Sponsor at Sponsor’s sole discretion. Each judge will be allowed one (1) point to assign to a single band of their choosing based on the attributes listed above.
- Tie – In the event of a tie (i.e., each band receives one point), the winner of the audience member vote will be declared the Grand Prize Winner.
The band receiving the most points will be declared the Grand Prize Winner at the conclusion of the Battle of the Bands event.
Grand Prize: The Grand Prize Winner will be awarded the opportunity to perform one (1) event at The Fillmore Miami Beach Start-Up VIP Club, and a cash prize of $500.00 Dollars.
Voting Methods and Disqualification: During any of the rounds or judging (including initial entries, semi-final round, and the Battle of the Bands event) Sponsor and their affiliates assume no responsibility for inaccurate entry or contest related information or for interrupted or unavailable network, server or other connections, miscommunications, computer or software malfunctions, telephone transmission problems or technical failures, garbled transmissions, damage to a user’s computer or mobile equipment (software or hardware) or other errors or malfunctions of any kind whether caused by equipment, programming used in this contest, mechanical or electronic problems, human error or otherwise. Any attempt by an entrant or voter to deliberately damage any web site or undermine the legitimate operation of this contest is a violation of criminal and/or civil laws and should such an attempt be made, Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify relevant entrant or vote(s) submitted and seek damages and other remedies to the fullest extent permitted by law. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to void entries or votes they believe are suspect or to modify, cancel, terminate or suspend this contest (or any portion of this contest) should virus, bugs, non-authorized human intervention or other causes beyond the control of Sponsors corrupt or impair the administration, security, fairness or proper play of the contest and, in any such event, select winner from all eligible online votes received prior to event requiring such action. The use of any device to automate the entry process is prohibited. In the event of suspected extreme voting irregularities, Sponsors have the right, in their sole discretion, to determine the Grand Prize contest winner. Further, Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify any band from the competition if any member of the band or its entourage makes any public statement, gesture or suggestion intended to bring Sponsor into public disrepute, contempt, scandal, or ridicule or intending to shock, insult, or offend the Sponsor or engages in any activity (in Sponsor’s sole discretion) that is contrary to the spirit of the contest. Decisions of the judges/Sponsors are final and binding.
Miscellaneous: By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these rules. Sponsor reserves the sole right to substitute entrants at any stage of the contest due to the inability of a contestant to perform at any stage due to non-compliance with these rules, voluntarily dismissal, or other event rendering a contestant’s participation impractical or impossible. Neither the Sponsor nor anyone acting on its behalf will enter into any communications with any entrant regarding this Contest other than for finalist or winner notifications. By entering, each band member warrants and represents that the band and its members is not currently under a recording contract and that the band’s entry composition is original, does not defame or otherwise violate the rights of any third party and does not violate any federal, state or local laws or ordinances. Entering band members further warrant and represent that the band has secured the requisite consent from any third party referenced in the band’s recorded entry and agrees that Sponsors and their designees shall have, without limitation, the non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free license to record, adapt, modify and exploit the entry, and the recording and composition embodied therein for trade, advertising, promotional and/or other purposes as Sponsors may determine without further consideration to the relevant band or its members. No transfer, cash redemption, or substitution of prize except by Sponsor due to prize availability and then for a prize of equal or greater value. Taxes on prizes and any other expenses associated with prize not explicitly stated herein are sole responsibility of the individual winners. Entrants agree that: (1) Sponsor and its designees shall have the right and permission to use entrant’s name, recording, and photograph or likeness, as well as entrant’s voice and city of residence for advertising, publicity, trade and/or other purpose without additional compensation (unless prohibited by law); and (2) Sponsor and each of its respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, locations, distributors, suppliers, advertising and promotion agencies shall have no liability and will be held harmless for any liability, loss, injury or damage to entrants or any other person or entity, including personal injury, death or damage to personal or real property, due in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, by reason of the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of prize (including without limitation, the activities associated with performing in this contest) or any travel related thereto or participation in this contest. Participation in this event does not imply or grant any entrant permission to use any intellectual property owned or used by the Sponsor, including, but not limited to, trademarks, slogans, patents, or copyrights. Sponsor may cancel or suspend any event associated with this contest at Sponsor’s discretion due to emergency, legal or regulatory requirements, act of God, or other event outside of Sponsor’s control.
