For Miami, By Miami

Art is everywhere in this city! It’s one of the things we love most about it and the main reason why this spring, we asked you guys to show us how you see Miami. And let’s just say, you guys turned up big for our second annual Miami Original photo contest!

We sifted through hundreds of great photos and narrowed it down to our top 20 before opening up the vote to the public. Check out the winning photo and the story behind it from Cristian Rivera!

From Cristian: “This photo was taken in the Wynwood area just a few streets down from where the Concrete Beach Brewery is located at an abandoned building which apparently used to be an RC Cola factory. I had actually gone to this same exact spot a few times and one of the times stumbled upon this group of cars. I took one picture and was content with what I had captured. The next time I had gone to this same exact spot all the cars where completely gone, which leads me to one of my favorite things about this picture and photography in general. The fact that the cars are no longer in this location as well as the fact that this place probably no longer looks the same, proves that not one photograph can ever be replicated or taken again the same exact way which makes it special to the person who took the picture, which in this case it was very special to me.”

To show our love for local photography, we’ll be displaying all 20 photos at the Social Hall in a special Miami Original Gallery. We’re gettin’ fancy and excited to show off this gallery for Miami, by Miami. Opening night will be July 28th and will feature live music from the Ben Stocker Quartet as well as a chocolate and beer pairing led by Juan Diego Chocolatier.  RSVP on Facebook and we’ll see you on the 28th!
